Thank you for your reply Mr. Englehart. This blog post was not intended to trivialize the amount of work couples regularly put in to maintaining a healthy relationship. Rather, the post was intended to provide information that would potentially prevent future arguments related to money. It's no secret couples fight about money - how it's spent, where it comes from, how it's valued, etc. While learning to communicate effectively about financial management with one's significant other is beneficial, dealing with debt can be a trickier subject matter to tackle. This post does not support avoiding a discussion about debt and its impact on family finances, but instead provides solutions to resolve debt or prevent debt in the first place.

The economy these last few years hasn't made it on couples, or anyone for that matter. The tools presented in the article are intended to nix what could be one potential point of contention. The others issues - well those are best left to the relationship experts.

Thank you again for your comment - we appreciate all feedback and look forward to learning more about our readers and the types of financial topics that matter most to you.

There should be more regulations and oversight into the financial markets, but seeing how the bill is not getting much progress in the house, it doesn't appear likely that many new regulations will come.

It's true that often people have more than one card and will carry balances on several at a time, making it harder to get out of debt. Credit card companies are in it to make money and they don't care how much a person has to pay on their debt, but rather that they pay so that the companies can continue making money. They will keep giving out cards and credit until a person is just not able to pay any more and are stuck in debt with them for a long time.
